The aim of Walking Football is to get the over 40s either into football or back after absence or injury. Walking Football is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful game whilst reducing the chance of injury, despite the name, the sport is no walk in the park, a game as mental as it is physical and stifling the urge to run is an early challenge. Passes must be made with pinpoint accuracy to have a chance of any success, lofting a tentative through ball is of no use here. Walking Football allows people of all generations to access a different type of competitive football whilst helping to keep you fit and healthy, there are over 400 walking football teams in the UK and now with the backing from the Football Association there is a genuine buzz for the future of the sport.

As the name suggests Walking Football is a non contact sport and anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free kick awarded to the opposition. The game is played on a pitch 20/40 yards in length and 15/30 yards in width with the game restarted via a kick roll or throw in. So why not give it a go, the first session is free.
