FA PEOPLES CUP 2016 FIRST ROUND

Last month saw the first round of this year’s FA Peoples Cup get under way around the country. After last year’s disappointing result at Manchester (lost in the final) BWFC were keen to make a comeback and so entered THREE teams into two of the most local tournament venues. Two teams led by Matt Corp and Steve White (Beechcroft Blue and Beechcroft White) attended at Shrewsbury’s Powerleague, and the third team led by Nell entered at Derby.  Despite winning two of their games Beechcroft Blues journey ended in the semi final against hosts Shrewsbury Town in a 3-1 defeat. Beechcroft White fought hard but failed to get through to the semis, leaving all our hopes pinned on Nells Derby team!

Beechcrofts Derby entry also did us proud by performing well, winning three of their four games, taking them to the semi final against Burton. A 1-1 draw led the team to penalties where the practice paid off and they won 3-2! In the final against Sheffield Beechcrofts luck ran out and they lost 3-0, however the top two teams progress to the next stage  so BWFC  left victorious.  Nell and his team now have the second round Nottingham semi finals to prepare for at the end of February!
