OVER 50'S IN NORTHAMPTON TOURNAMENT

On a sunny Tuesday afternoon BWFC Manager Paul Murtagh took a team of over 50’s to Northampton Town to play in a well attended walking football tournament. Four pitches with five teams on each playing in a well organised league format meant Birmingham were in a group alongside Kettering, Derby, QPR and Towcester. After playing all four league matches and not conceding a goal (three wins and a draw) Birmingham were set to play Northampton Town, in the quarter final. They avenged their peoples cup exit by beating ‘the cobblers’ 1-0, which set up a semi final against Huntingdon. Unfortunately missed chances and a last minute conceded goal meant they played no further part in the competition losing 1-0 in the semi final. A pleasant day was had by all.
