WFA Over 65’s National Cup Competition

Birmingham WFC  1  Hartshill Strollers 3.

Birmingham Over 65’s went down to a disappointing defeat against Hartshill Strollers in the 2nd Round of the WFA National Cup.

On a scorching hot day at Solihull, Birmingham did not start well and found themselves 2 goals to nil down by half time, the first goal for Hartshill coming from a deflection off the arm of a Birmingham defender and the second as a result of some slack marking in defence.

At the other end Birmingham made at least three good scoring chances in the first half but could not find their way past the Hartshill goalkeeper who was in inspired form. Then, just after halftime, Birmingham pulled a goal back through striker Decka Thorp to give themselves hope that they may be able to salvage something from the match.

However another defensive mistake from a corner let in Hartshill for their third goal and the score remained at 1 – 3 until the final whistle.
